New Year’s Day Beach Sweep & Polar Plunge Slated, Volunteer & Participant Opportunity

BRUNSWICK, GA (December 9, 2025) – Make a Big Splash in the New Year! Welcome in a clean and green 2026 by making a difference and then jumping in the ocean during a Polar Plunge if you dare – join in Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s ninth annual New Year’s Day beach sweep sponsored and hosted by Jenseye Photography!  Again this year is a Polar Plunge following the cleanup. The public is invited to participate in one or both events!

Volunteers meet at a NEW LOCATION this year, the Masengale Park beach crossover at 8:30 AM on Thursday, January 1^st to sign in and receive supplies and direction.

Volunteers will concentrate on possible litter left over from New Year’s Eve merry-making, extending efforts into beach parking lots and as many of the 41 public access points as volunteer turnout will allow.

STAY AFTER for the 2026 POLAR PLUNGE at 9:00AM!!! Hosted by Kavpar Customs, also at Coast Guard Station beach. Hot cocoa will be provided by HOOCH Skateboards.

“While fireworks are prohibited on Glynn County beaches, volunteers will be prepared to remove even the smallest pieces of fireworks debris, preventing possible marine debris that can be harmful to marine life,” said KGIB executive director Lea King-Badyna. “The New Year’s Day cleanup is the brainchild of KGIB volunteers Jenn and Mike Hatcher of Jenseye Photography who will again be leading the cleanup. We greatly appreciate their helping us kick off a clean, green and beautiful 2026.”

All cleanup supplies will be provided and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
