Marsh Madness - A Decade of Difference Making


BRUNSWICK, GA (April 1, 2024) –  Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s 2024 March Marsh Madness effort was a huge success thanks to participating volunteers, site leaders, community partners and supporters. In just one month, 36 salt marsh and marsh adjacent cleanups were held, removing 8 TONS of trash and debris, including 64 tires. Together, 460 volunteer opportunities were fulfilled for a combined 743 volunteer hours.


The decade-old month-long effort has amassed impressive stats: 190 March salt marsh and marsh adjacent cleanups have been conducted in the past 10 months of March, removing 59 TONS of trash & debris, including 607 tires (6.5 tire tons), fulfilling 2,959 volunteer opportunities, resulting in 5,353 volunteer hours, for a total volunteer value of $170,225!
