Keep Golden Isles Beautiful has earned state and national recognition for its 2024 efforts: the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation (KGBF) Governor’s Circle Award and Keep America Beautiful’s (KAB) President’s Circle Award recognize outstanding achievements in community beautification and environmental sustainability. Both awards are presented in recognition of exemplary performance and a standard of excellence made by certified affiliates in creating clean, green and beautiful communities.
To qualify for the Governor’s Circle Award, affiliates must be certified and in good standing with KAB, the national nonprofit that oversees state and local programming. Additionally, the affiliate must be an active member of the KGBF network. Certified KAB affiliates are required to effect meaningful, positive, and lasting change by directly addressing community needs in the areas of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, and beautification.
In qualifying for a President’s Circle Award, KGIB has met KAB’s standards of merit by conducting an annual Community Appearance Index, calculating the affiliate’s cost/benefit ratio, and administering activities in the areas of litter prevention, recycling and waste reduction, and beautification and community greening. Established in 1979, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful is a two-person staffed, volunteer centric educational nonprofit organization.
