Keep Golden Isles Beautiful recently received a $5,000 grant from Made to Be Remade, a statewide initiative led by the Georgia Beverage Association, at a gathering that brought together City/County public officials and members of the business community.
Launched earlier this year at the Georgia State Capitol, Made to Be Remade is designed to increase beverage container recycling and reduce waste across the state. The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation is serving as the initiative’s official sustainability partner, helping to mobilize its network of more than 70 local affiliates to bring the program’s goals to life in their communities.
“We are thrilled to receive this recycling centric grant,” said KGIB executive director Lea King-Badyna. “These grant funds make possible a project initiated by our Board of Directors that would not have been realized otherwise.”
Grant funds will support a custom video showing the path of local residential recycling streams and make possible refrigerator magnets displaying recycling program accepted items.
“We’re proud to see local leaders taking action to advance recycling and sustainability in their communities,” said Kevin Perry, president of the Georgia Beverage Association. “These grants provide the tools communities need to reduce waste, protect the environment, and create lasting positive change across Georgia.”
