Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s 2026 March Marsh Madness effort was a huge success thanks to participating volunteers, site leaders, community partners and supporters. In just one month, 57 salt marsh and marsh adjacent cleanups were held, removing 8.4 TONS of trash and debris, including 47.5 tires. Together, 598 volunteer opportunities were fulfilled for a combined 1,125 volunteer hours.

Since its 2014 debut, the effort has amassed impressive stats: 293 March salt marsh and marsh adjacent cleanups, removing 77 TONS of trash & debris, including 724.5 tires, fulfilling 4,109 volunteer opportunities, resulting in 8,3531 volunteer hours, for a total volunteer value of $261,046!

Part of Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American Cleanup, Marsh Madness is sponsored by Georgia-Pacific Brunswick Cellulose Mill and supported by Glynn County government, the City of Brunswick and the Jekyll Island Authority. KGIB thanks all who have volunteered, partnered, funded and otherwise supported this estuarine centric cleanup effort and looks forward to another decade of Marsh Madness Difference Making!
