TRASH FREE BEACH INITIATIVE

WEB_Sign_close-up-e1491245479193-225x300

As part of the Coastal Litter Prevention Project, KGIB and Glynn County followed best practices of coastal communities around the nation in relocating beach trash cans from the sand and into parking lots. Relocating the trash cans eliminated a source of litter and marine debris: overflowing hard to service trash cans. Adopting a “carry in, carry out” philosophy, beach visitors are now expected to bring their generated beach trash to convenient parking lot trash corals.

Multiple communities from around the nation have been in contact with KGIB regarding this strategy in hopes in emulating it in their communities.
