BRUNSWICK, GA - (September 21, 2021) – In celebration of Georgia Cities Week, the City of Brunswick is hosting a cleanup on Saturday, October 9th at 8AM and welcomes volunteers.

Taking a neighborhood by neighborhood approach, the City is partnering with Neighborhood Planning Associations and seeking volunteers to participate in cleaning activities. Churches, youth groups, civic groups and the general public are encouraged to lend a hand. Trash bags, gloves, masks and volunteer water will be provided. Bug spray, sunscreen and work clothes are recommended.

"We are excited to participate in Georgia Cities Week for the very first time,” said Brunswick City Manager Regina McDuffie. “Brunswick’s week-long celebration activities culminates with the City cleanup, and we need folks to come out and lend a hand.”

Neighborhood Planning Associations will remove litter in their respective geographic areas, and members of the general public will have designated areas to clean as well. Individual members of the general public can report to Old City Hall (1229 Newcastle Street downtown Brunswick) on the 9th at 8AM to pick up supplies and be assigned to a cleanup location. Groups wishing to participate are asked to pre-register before the event.
