Volunteers Sought for Third Annual Brunswick City-wide Cleanup Effort

BRUNSWICK, GA – (February 15, 2019) — The City of Brunswick will conduct its third annual City-wide Cleanup effort on Saturday, April 27, 9AM-11AM with a volunteer celebration cookout to follow in Roosevelt Harris Jr. Senior Center.

Taking a neighborhood to neighborhood approach, the City is seeking volunteers to participate in cleaning activities. Churches, youth groups, civic groups and the general public are encouraged to lend a hand. Trash bags, gloves and volunteer water will be provided. Bug spray, sunscreen and work clothes are recommended.

“The City-wide Cleanup is a demonstration of our commitment to every neighborhood, resident and business of the City of Brunswick.  It’s the opportunity to bridge cultures, relationships and other diversities through a common effort and goal of beautifying our beloved city,” said Brunswick City Commissioner Felicia Harris. “My desire is to see the entire City of Brunswick be the place that every citizen takes PRIDE in calling home.  Every neighborhood, resident and business matters.  We look forward to partnering with the entire community as we work together in unity to Build A Better Brunswick.  We are excited and encourage both individuals and groups to get involved, register and take part in this great stewardship opportunity.”

Volunteer “teams” can clean their neighborhoods or be assigned neighborhoods in need. One team leader per team will be responsible for picking up the provided supplies from the Roosevelt Harris Jr. Senior Center event morning, distributing them at their respective cleanup locations and providing on-site volunteer direction. Individual volunteers are welcome and will be assigned to teams.

Brunswick’s third annual City-wide Cleanup is part of the 21st annual Great American Cleanup – the country’s largest community improvement program engaging more than 4 million volunteers in over 20,000 communities nationwide. A Keep America Beautiful national effort bringing people together to build and sustain vibrant communities, locally the event is celebrated with multiple community betterment opportunities.

The City-wide Cleanup partners with the Brunswick Downtown Development Authority and Keep Golden Isles Beautiful  to help keep the City clean, green and beautiful. For more information and/or to register a cleanup team, call 912/267-5500.
