Lea’s love and enthusiasm for coastal Georgia is contagious. With over 24 years of experience in public/community/media relations, volunteer management and event planning/organization in the Golden Isles, she actively promotes the organization, its programs and volunteers to galvanize community support and participation in helping keep the Golden Isles clean, green and beautiful. Her understanding of the importance of coastal natural resources stems from a decade of work with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Coastal Resources Division and tenure with the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service and Georgia Sea Grant. During her time at GADNR/CRD, Lea organized “CoastFest” – Georgia’s largest outdoor celebration of the state’s coastal, natural, historical and cultural resources which draws over 9,000 visitors annually. An avid recycler, litter picker-upper and community volunteer, Lea understands the power of volunteerism and its crucial role in community betterment.

Graduating from Ohio University with a BS in Outdoor Education & Recreation, Christy moved south to work for Georgia State Parks. She fell in love with Georgia, from the tobacco farms of Coffee County to the waterfalls of Tallulah Gorge, as she moved around the state educating park visitors about a wide variety of resources.
Settling in coastal Georgia over 10 years ago, Christy volunteered at local organizations and rekindled her love of art as she waited for her next career to surface. She now supports the Executive Director of Keep Golden Isles Beautiful to fulfill a desire to make a positive impact in the area she happily calls home.
In addition to her administrative role of balancing the budget, managing the Adopt-A program and assisting with non-profit fundraising, she enjoys working with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful volunteers, educating hundreds of third graders each year on the impact of litter and working to bring partners together for the common good of the Golden Isles.
