New Year’s Day Beach Sweep Slated
BRUNSWICK, GA (December 10, 2018) – Ring in the New Year, welcome in a clean and green 2019 and make a difference at the same time – join in Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s second annual New Year’s Day beach sweep! Volunteers meet at the St. Simons Island Old Coast Guard Station beach crossover at 8AM on Tuesday, January 1st to sign in and receive supplies (trash bags and gloves provided).
Volunteers will concentrate on possible litter left over from New Year’s Eve merry-making. “While fireworks are prohibited on Glynn County beaches, volunteers will be prepared to remove even the smallest pieces of fireworks debris, preventing possible marine debris that can be harmful to marine life,” said KGIB executive director Lea King-Badyna. “The New Year’s Day cleanup idea is the brainchild of KGIB volunteers Jenn and Mike Hatcher who will again be leading the cleanup. We greatly appreciate their helping us kick off a clean, green and beautiful 2019.”
Contact Keep Golden Isles Beautiful for volunteer pre-registration or for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org or 912-279-1490. All ages are welcome to participate.
